Schools offer courses in marijuana careers

The fast-growing field of medical marijuana needs workers

A growing number of schools around the country are offering courses in the field of marijuana.

In fact, in some cases schools are opening specifically for that purpose.

For example, the Notheastern Institute of Cannabis, set to begin operations soon in Natic, Massachusetts.

The NIC was founded by Mickey Martin, a marijuana activist.

More than two dozen states now allow medical marijuana; the latest is New York.

Currently, there are no credentials required for people working at most medical marijuana dispensaries, so it's unclear if the schools are necessary or will be well-attended.

But the dispensaries do normally have to pay the state a fee for each person they hire, so they may start looking more closely for people who have shown a higher level of commitment.
