Sarah Palin launches her own online channel

The subscription-based service costs about $10 a month, $100 for a year

Former vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin has launched an online subscription-based channel.

She says it will serve as an alternative to mainstream media, bypassing the "filters" of big government.

In a video posted on her Facebook page Sunday announcing the channel, she said it's more than just news.

Subscribers will pay $9.95 per month or $99.95 a year for access.

“This is a community where we’re going to be able to share ideas and discuss the issues of the day,  and we’re going to find solutions,” Palin says.

The channel is part of the TAPP network, which features content built around well-known personalities.

TAPP was co-founded by the former chairman of NBC Universal Television, Jeff Gaspin, and Jon Klein, former president of CNN/U.S.
