Research says cat lovers smarter, dog lovers more outgoing

Meow, or woof?

More than 600 people were followed, interviewed, and studied for the project, and the findings have some barking for an explanation.

Denise Guastello from Carroll University says “dog people” tend to be;

• Energetic, outgoing, and likely to follow rules.

• Open minded, non-conformist, and sensitive.

“Cat lovers” are more;

However, LiveScience reports there is one claim that may get under the collar of more dog owners. According to the study, cat owners tend to be smarter.

Scientists think the pets themselves, and how they are cared for could explain the differences.

Dog owners often go on walks with their four-legged friends, getting their owners outside in social settings.

Cats are more than happy to stay inside, allowing their people to do the same.

Psychology Today did similar research in 2010 and found 60% of respondents claimed to favor dogs while 11% professed their love for the felines.
