Scientists say middle-aged people who bicker are up to three times more likely to drop dead than those who keep their cool.

Going further, Danish researchers say those numbers may be even higher with those who feud with their neighbors.

"Having an argument every now and then is fine, but having it all the time seems dangerous," researcher Rikke Lund told LiveScience.

The Los Angeles Times reports anyone who spent a great deal of time worrying about their family were more susceptible to problems with cancer, heart disease, and alcohol.

Thousands of people were followed for several years with distinct patterns emerging.

Unemployed men were at the top of the list when it comes to having elevated conflict in their lives. The BBC reports those men were prone to have more risk in their lifestyles and suffer from high blood pressure.

Doctors recommend talking things out calmly or using another form of conflict resolution to lessen the impact of the issues.
