Report: Jared Fogle's obesity foundation an apparent sham

Foundation provided no grants

Jared Fogle’s foundation, set up to help fight childhood obesity, is as big a bust as the former celebrity spokesman.

Research shows the Jared Foundation failed to give out a single grant despite collecting money over the past several years.

"If Jared was really interested in helping children through his foundation, he could have gotten more money," CharityWatch President Daniel Borochoff told USA Today. "As with a lot of celebrities, the charity appears to be more about image-enhancement than charitable deeds."

That's not all.

Reports show Fogle promised to provide school districts with $2 million to battle childhood obesity. Instead, between 2009 and 2013, the foundation handed out less than $75,000 while executive director Russell Taylor raked in 60% of the money. 26% of the cash remains untraced.

Records prove the foundation hasn’t paid its registration fee to the state of Indiana since 2008.

Fogle faces charges of receiving and distributing child pornography and having sex with minors. His legal issues don’t end there. His second wife has begun divorce proceedings.
