Rapist upset after learning his victim has HIV

man collapsed when cops told him

No one is feeling sorry for Richard Thomas.

Thomas snuck into the home of a woman he knew and raped her.

Thomas will spend five years in prison for the crime but he may get a much worse sentence later this week.

The BBC reports the British man claims he had been drinking and taking drugs and has no memory of the attack in Leigh, Greater Manchester.

The woman he violated is HIV positive.

The victim’s attorney told the jury when she woke up to find Thomas raping her "she froze and no words were exchanged. He pulled up his shorts and left."

The woman had taken a sleeping aid and didn't wake up immediately.

Thomas confirmed he knew the victim and was aware she had an illness but didn't know it was HIV. The Daily Mail says once he was arrested and told the news, Thomas collapsed and asked to be taken to a hospital.

Even Thomas’s own attorney was not moved. "It is his own fault," the barrister told the court. "If he had not committed this offense he would not have placed himself in this position."
