Everyone complains about those drivers who go under the speed limit in the far left lane on the highway.
Doing that is actually against the law in Oklahoma and now in Georgia too. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol tells KRMG you’re technically supposed to drive in the right lane unless you’re passing someone.
“That’s what the inside lane is for, is for passing. Everyone is supposed to drive in the right lane.” Lieutenant Derek Burton said.
Lt. Burton told KRMG he wouldn't usually write a ticket for such an offense, but technically, you could be ticketed.
“But, if you’re over there [in the left lane,] you’re supposed to maintain the speed limit, so if you’re under the speed limit, you’re impeding traffic behind you.” Lt. Burton added.
It’s nothing to scoff at either, that ticket will run you $188.50.
