Pro gun billboards with Native American images drawing attention

Boards were privately funded

The billboards show three Native Americans in tradition dress standing in front of a teepee and two are holding guns.

The print on the board says “turn in your arms, the government will take care of you.”

The boards are in Greeley, Colorado and have raised some eyebrows.

Wells noted there have not been any complaint calls telling the Greely Tribune "I think people are really worried about their gun rights and what liberties are going to be taken away."

Matt Wells is an account executive with Lamar Advertising in Denver, he told the Associated Press a local group paid for the ads. He then added “they have asked to remain anonymous.”

But there is one resident of the town who is not happy.

Greeley resident Kerri Salazar has Native American blood and took exception to the images.

Salazar said she wasn’t upset about the message but was offended the Native American people were used without consent.
