OU president announces layoffs on first day

We have updated information regarding budget issues at the University of Oklahoma.

On his first day as president on Monday, Jim Gallogly announced the university is laying off about one-third of the executives who report directly to him. The cuts will affect the main campus in Norman, the Tulsa campus and the Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.

In a press release, Gallogly states the reorganization will keep tuition rates stable.  Plus, this will help OU work toward faculty pay raises.

For reference, the university spent $547.4 million on compensation and benefits in 2017.
