Polling shows 2016 presidential choices all over the map

Clinton leads dems easily but GOP a jumble

The poll says Hillary Clinton is far and away the leader on the Democratic side of the race with 65% saying she is their choice.

Republicans are much less decided.

Names like Chris Christie, Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and Jeb Bush share the spotlight with no one having a clear advantage.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie 16%                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin 13%                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida 9%                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas at 7%,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania 5%

Poll results show the Republican side runs down like this:

The CNN poll went further and broke out which candidate very conservative GOP voters would back as opposed to more moderate republicans.

Just 8% of the conservative repubs say Christie is their man compared to 28% of those who say they are moderate Republicans.

Pollsters remind any numbers this early are just for trends and will swing wildly between now and 2016.

"Polls taken two to three years before an election have absolutely no predictive value," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "Do not treat this as a prediction of what will happen in 2016."

In the meantime the numbers are meant to keep track of the current trends and attitudes toward all the names that may be in the race.
