Police officer waives his right to a jury trial

A Tulsa police officer accused of robbing Hispanic drivers waived his right to a jury trial on Thursday.

Court records show Marvin Blades Jr. has been offered a 17-year sentence plea deal.  He has not plead guilty yet and still could have a non-jury trial.

Blades is accused of pulling over Hispanic drivers while in uniform and ordering them to give him their wallets.  He would then take their money.

Police say Blades was arrested during a sting operation in August.

He's still a part of the police department, but is on non-paid administrative leave.

Blades is out of jail on bond.
