Pilot program could lower Tulsa County's high rate of women in prison

Oklahoma state lawmakers are looking to lower the amount of women in prison in Oklahoma, which has the HIGHEST female incarceration rate in the entire nation.

And Tulsa County has the highest rate in Oklahoma, even higher than the Oklahoma City area, which has a larger population.

They're working on a pilot program called "Pay-For-Success", in which Tulsa County would have a set goal to get a certain number of female inmates psychological treatment and job training, to help them get back into normal society.

The State will be looking for private money from philathropists to help pay for the program.

And if they stay OUT of jail, the County would get money from the State, as a financial incentive.
