Pedestrian killed by a hit-and-run driver in east Tulsa

A young Hispanic man died in east Tulsa after a hit-and-run driver struck him, dragging him for 50-100 feet before fleeing the scene.

It happened around 8:00 p.m. in the 12400 block of E. 31st Street, just west of 129th E. Avenue.

Tulsa Police Cpl. Brian Collum told KRMG at the scene that the man was wearing dark clothing, and the driver may not have seen him.

Collum says investigators found a Chevrolet emblem at the scene, and witnesses described the vehicle as a dark-colored SUV.

He died at the scene.

Witnesses say the SUV wasn't speeding, but the driver panicked and hit the gas after striking the victim.

Collum told KRMG that had the driver stopped, they may not even have received a citation as there was no crosswalk, and the witnesses said speed wasn't involved.

As of late Sunday night, they had not yet identified the victim as he didn't have any ID on him at the time of the collision.
