Ottawa County sheriff indicted, accused of embezzlement and perjury

OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. — A multicounty grand jury indicted Ottawa County Sheriff Jeremy Floyd on Friday, accusing him of embezzlement and perjury.

According to court documents, Floyd knowingly embezzled $1,132.78 from Ottawa County on March 9, 2018.

Floyd is in his final term as sheriff after losing November’s election to David Dean.

In his filing for the election back in April 2020, Floyd allegedly lied under oath in his declaration for his candidacy for sheriff, committing perjury when he said he had never committed embezzlement.
