People focus a lot on income taxes.
But a study by the non-partisan Tax Foundation shows Oklahomans pay a lot more in sales taxes than people in most other states.
The study combines the state sales tax with the average local sales tax and found that Oklahoma has the 5th-highest U.S., at nearly 8.7 percent.
Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon all tied for lowest with zero percent.
Tennessee ranked number one at 9.4 percent.
The Tax Foundation points out, however, that the study does not take into account the rate at which certain products are taxed.
For example, some states charge a lower sales tax for things like groceries, while other states tax all products at the same rate.
