Oklahoma teacher found passed out drunk in classroom

Sub had been cussing and disoriented

Students in April Chamberlain’s class say she had been cursing and slurring her speech all day.

Then as the day wound to a close, so did April.

Around 3:15 Chamberlain passed out and fell into the floor of her classroom. That’s where school workers and sheriff’s deputies found her, snoozing on the floor.

Topping off the proof investigators found an empty whiskey bottle in her purse.

“It took a while for her to open her eyes and acknowledge the deputy was there. Once she did, there was a strong odor of alcohol and her speech was slurred, so it was obvious she was drinking,” deputy Mark Myers told KOKH-TV.

Cecelia Robinson is the Superintendant of Millwood Public Schools. “We handled it quickly and feel good about the way that it was resolved,” she said.

Robinson also made it very clear that the teacher was never a full time employee of the district.

“This was a substitute, a temporary employee, not someone who’s around their children every day and so parents need not be concerned that we are exposing their children to someone who could place them in harm or danger,” she wrapped up by saying.
