Oklahoma police chief turns himself in for embezzlement

Sallisaw police chief Shaloa Edwards turned himself in on Friday.

Police say he admitted to borrowing a small amount of money from petty cash, which was later paid back.  The amount of money he took is said to be under $100.

Despite paying the money back, a warrant was still issued for his arrest.

Edwards faces one count of felony embezzlement.

Edwards has been the police chief since 2005.  He was suspended by the Sallisaw City Council back in February for taking the money.
