A bill that makes it more difficult for a minor in Oklahoma to get an abortion without parental consent has been signed into law by Gov. Mary Fallin.
The abortion measure was one of 22 bills signed into law Tuesday by the Republican governor.
The bill addresses Oklahoma's judicial bypass procedure that allows girls younger than 18 to ask a judge's permission to get an abortion without parental consent. It requires such a bypass to be obtained in the county where the girl lives, a move supporters say will prevent girls from venue shopping for a willing judge. The bill also requires a parent granting consent of a minor's abortion to present a government-issued identification.
