OK AG issues opinion indicating lack of oversight in state purchasing

Oklahoma Attorney General Genter Drummond has issued a formal opinion pointing to a lack of oversight in state purchasing.

In a news release sent out Thursday afternoon, Drummond said his opinion affirms a recent report by the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT) that found “significant shortcomings in state purchasing oversight.”

“The LOFT report on the State’s purchasing system is a solid examination of what unthinkably has been allowed to become a seriously flawed process,” Drummond said in the news release.

“It appears as though reforms are needed to ensure accountability and oversight of taxpayer funds.”

Drummond urged state legislators to give serious consideration to recommendations made in a LOFT report issued earlier this month.
