Officer-involved shooting victim had long criminal history

OSBI agents just released the man's name

An Okmulgee man was shot by police around 2:00 Thursday morning at the end of a pursuit.

Agents with the OSBI say the victim is 28-year-old James E. Stutchman.

Investigators say Stutchman refused to stop his 1993 Yukon SUV.

That's when he was shot and killed.

He eventually pulled over and got out of the SUV with a gun.

KRMG checked Stutchman's record and found that he was out of prison and on probation with 19 felonies on his record.

The convictions include several counts of armed robbery.

Stutchman's Facebook page lists Sonic for his job.

The Okmulgee Police Department requested OSBI investigate the shooting.

OSBI agents continue to gather information and interview witnesses.

Once the investigation is complete, the case agent will compile the information into a prosecution report.

The report will be handed to the district attorney who will decide whether the shooting was justified.
