NWS predicting mild winter, El Nino possible

Tulsa, Okla. — The National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a mild winter for much of the U. S.

Meteorologist Mike Halpert says there's a decent chance we could see the first El Nino in a few years.

“There is currently a El Nino watch in place with a 70 to 75 percent chance that El Nino will develop during the next few months,” Halpert said.

If El Nino does develop, it could bring wetter conditions to the southern U. S. and warmer, drier conditions to parts of the North.
