New traffic lights to ease congestion in Glenpool

121st Street will get new lights on the east side of Highway 75

Drivers in Glenpool will only have to deal with the four-way stop on 121st Street near Highway 75 for a matter of months.

Early next year, the city will install a new traffic signal on the east side of the highway to helpimprove traffic flow.

A busy shopping center on the west of Hwy 75 contributes to the congestion as well as many residential neighborhoods in the area.

The Glenpool City Council approved the project in a recent meeting, though the specifics of the project have yet to be determined.

Drivers who use the roadway frequently told KRMG they’re looking forward to the change, because rush hour at that intersection moves very slowly.

City officials say the lights should be installed by early next year.
