New ramp closure, lane changes to complicate traffic flow at I-44 and Lewis interchange

ODOT: Drivers should plan new routes

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says it will shut down the ramp from S. Lewis Ave. to westbound I-44 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Crews will be closing lanes on I-44 in preparation to shift them to the north as the construction on the interchange continues.

The lanes closures on I-44 will take place between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., beginning Wednesday and ending early Saturday.

ODOT spokeswoman Kenna Mitchell tells KRMG that they want drivers to plan new routes immediately.

The westbound ramp from Lewis to I-44 will remain closed through Spring of 2013.

"Right now we're asking drivers to go ahead and make plans to use either Harvard or Peoria for access to westbound I-44," she said.

All lanes of S. Utica Ave. at E. 51st St./Skelly Drive from 8:00 a.m. Wednesday until 5:00 p.m. Thursday.

All closures are dependent on weather conditions.
