New Creek Turnpike interchange set to open in Broken Arrow

A grand opening of the long-awaited Aspen/Creek Turnpike Interchange in Broken Arrow is scheduled for 10 a.m. May18th.

The project was a joint project between the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and Broken Arrow.

“We have been waiting for this project to come to fruition for a long time,” said Broken Arrow Mayor Mike Lester. “We have prime retail land available in south Broken Arrow that developers will be flocking to because of the access that has now been provided. This project alone will help spur development in south Broken Arrow that is desperately needed for our residents in that area.”

Total cost was $6.137 million.  OTA provided a funding contribution of $1.75 million and the remainder was paid for by the Broken Arrow Economic Development Authority.

City leaders confirm that construction was supposed to take 300 days but the contractor completed the project 3 weeks early.
