Nearly $2-million missing from city coffers in Hartshorne

Hartshorne, Okla. — The state auditor discovers $2-million missing from the coffers in the city of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, in Pittsburg County.

Documents tell us the city had a million dollars in utility deposits missing from 2009, with another $600,000 that was not on deposit between 2014 and 2016.

The audit shows a former city clerk bought more than $80,000 in personal items by using a city credit card.

The 2010 census shows Hartshorne had 2,125 residents.

The city is making efforts to get some funding from FEMA and State Office of Emergency Management.
