Nationwide helium shortage causing problems for Tulsa party supply shops

Helium supply expected to be gone by 2016

The country is facing a massive helium shortage and it has put Tulsa party supply shops on notice.

They have seen deliveries decrease by almost 90 percent.

Floyd Hannah owns Ehrles Party Supply.

Hannah says he's used to getting a dozen tanks of helium each week.

He tells KRMG that the problem is bad and only getting worse.

Latetly, he's only able to get one.

Hannah tells KRMG that he has spoken with the Bureau of Land Management and reports that the nation's helium supply is expected to run out by 2016.

Parties aren't the only problem.

Helium is also used in MRI's and other medical treatments.
