National Guard troops headed to Texas-Mexico border

Intended to 'protect the nation from narco-terrorists'

Some "weekend warriors" are activated in the Lone Star State.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry says sending National Guard troops to the Texas-Mexico border will defend not just his home state but protect the nation from "narco-terrorists."

Perry, who ordered 1,000 troops to the border, said he doesn't know how long they will have to be deployed before the threat is quelled.
