National Diabetes Month: One in three US adults has pre-diabetes, and most don’t know it

TULSA — November is National Diabetes Month in the U.S., and this year the messaging focuses on the condition known as pre-diabetes, which according to research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention affects more than one in three adults in the country.

KRMG spoke with Dr. Griffin Rodgers, Director of the National Institute for Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.

He said half of those people will likely develop Type 2 diabetes, which can have devastating consequences, up to and including death.
