A number of signs have gone up along a busy Tulsa road reducing the speed limit to 25 miles per hour, but it turns out they went up much too soon.
KRMG noticed the speed limit signs on E. 81st Street between S. Yale Ave. and S. Sheridan Ave, but no construction, so we called the city to ask about the signs.
City spokeswoman Lara Weber said they do plan to work on the road, but didn't plan to begin the project until Holland Hall School lets out for the summer in order to minimize traffic problems.
Work has begun on building sidewalks along that stretch of road, so motorists may see some equipment by the side of the road.
The subcontractor apparently got the starting date confused, and had put up the 25 MPH signs months before the work will begin.
However, lane closures and the reduced speed limit won't go into effect until after May 24th.
The city returned our call to say that they will remove the speed limit signs until the project's underway.
