Motorcycle slams into side of trash truck, one dead one critical

The two people on the motorcycle were from Arkansas

A motorcycle on 265th E. Avenue smashed into a trash truck Wednesday morning, killing one rider and critically injuring another.

It happened about 10:20 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 412 and 265th E. Avenue in Rogers County.

KRMG was the first to pull up on the scene.

His passenger, 21-year-old Lauren Nieto, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators say 19-year-old Jeremy Lawson, of Alexander, Arkansas, died on the scene.

The trash truck belongs to Champion Refuse of Claremore, according to information painted on the side of the truck.

Investigators say the truck was stopped in the center turn lane.

No one on the truck was injured, and no other vehicles were involved.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lt. Vern Wilson says they found two helmets at the scene, and believe the riders were wearing them at the time of the crash, though he can’t be sure.
