Mom uses Facebook to lure accused molester into confessing

Mother says she learned about the molestation by reading her daughter's journal

A Tulsa mom says when she learned a predator had targeted her daughter, she decided to take action, not only to protect the girl, but as a warning to other potential molesters.

The woman spoke exclusively with KRMG after we agreed to protect her identity and that of her daughter.

We'll refer to her as "Mary."

The girl told her the molestation occurred when she was 3 and 4 years old -- she's now 11.

She says she learned about the molestation by reading her daughter's journal.

"Mary" says the man who violated her girl is in the country illegally and she worried that he'd flee to Mexico if he became suspicious that he was under scrutiny.

So, she posed as the girl on Facebook and began messaging the suspect with a specific goal in mind: To get him to confess to what he had done, in his own words, so she could go to police with solid evidence.

It took time, and some very nervous encounters with the man, but she convinced him he was actually talking to the girl, and not only got him to confess, she managed to get him to tell the girl all the things he still wanted to do to her.

The details of what he proposed can not be printed here.

Police have arrested Rafael Hernandez Reyes, he's booked on one count of lewd molestation and one count of lewd proposal to a minor, but could face additional charges.

He's also on a hold for Immigration and Customs Enforcement as an illegal alien.

"Mary" says she hopes her story will serve as a warning to other child predators.
