Mom pleads guilty to child neglect, gets deferred sentence

Update: A Tulsa mom pled guilty Friday to child neglect in connection with leaving her three children alone in a hot apartment.

Tulsa court records show Yomara Alvarado received a five-year deferred sentence.

Update: Yomara Alvarado was charged on Friday with child neglect after leaving her three children home alone.

The children are now in the custody of the Department of Human Services.

Tulsa police say the five, three, and two year-olds used 20 bottles of water to stay cool and had no access to food.

Original Story: A woman is taken into custody after three kids are found home alone in a hot apartment.

Tulsa police say Yomara Alvarado was arrested on three counts of child endangerment Tuesday evening.

The three children ages five, four and two, were found home alone at an apartment near 57th and Peoria.

Police say the children had opened 20 or more water bottles to dump on themselves to cool down.  There was no air conditioning.

Plus, there was no food in reach for the children.

Police say the children were taken into protective custody.

Alvarado remains in the Tulsa County Jail as of Wednesday
