Missing a lap turkey?? We can help.

Of course they named him Tom

His name is Tom, at least that’s what the folks at the Broken Arrow animal shelter named him.

Tom is a 25-30 pound “lap turkey” found wandering Nienhuis Park on Thursday.

“We come here all the time to play at the park and we’ve never seen turkey running around here,” Sarah giggled.

BA animal control director Lanny Damph told us Tom, “is tame, is a very gentle turkey.” Damph went on to say Tom, “will let you pick him up and hold him and pet him.”

That leads Damph to surmise, “he’s somebody’s pet, obviously.”

Not everyone understands. “I don’t know who would have a turkey as a pet,” one chucked.” Usually you eat a turkey.”

Sarah hopes that doesn’t happen.

“Hopefully whoever is missing their beloved turkey will be reunited with it soon,” she told us.

Anyone with information the owner is asked to call the shelter at 918-259-8311.
