Miley Cyrus confirms she tried to go topless at VMA awards

MTV wouldn't allow the nudity

The plan was revealed in the documentary "Miley: The Movement" when it debuted on MTV this week.

Cyrus said she and Brittany Spears were talking before the VMA performance when Brittney said “you're not going to be topless onstage, are you?"

To which the performer formerly known as Hannah Montana replied “I tried but I don't think MTV's going to allow it."

Miley’s famous father Billy Ray said he saw this kind of thing coming early in her life.

Whew, that was close.

When Cyrus was younger she idolized Spears and liked watching her "I'm a Slave 4 U” video.

Miley told Us her dad "shook his head and was like 'My 8-year-old is going to turn into a stripper.'

Cyrus defended herself by saying every girl wanted to be like Brittney.

Miley is also a big fan of Sinead O’Connor and claimed her “Wrecking Ball” video was somewhat of an homage to O'Connor’s "Nothing Compares 2 U."

That didn't play well with O'Connor who penned an open letter to Cyrus.

"I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way 'cool' to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos,” she began.

"It is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether it’s the music business or yourself doing the pimping."

Cyrus will host Saturday Night Live on October 5th so be ready for anything.
