Mandatory water restrictions south of Tulsa

Effective immediately in Okmulgee County Water District Six

Mandatory water restrictions are in place south of Tulsa.

Glenn Shoaf is with Okmulgee County Rural Water District Number 6.

He tells KRMG demand for water is exceeding supply so they’ve implemented mandatory water restrictions: “At this time we’re asking everybody to shut off their lawn sprinklers…any outside watering with hoses…washing vehicles and so forth.  Our big concern at this point is the health and safety of our members.  We are not one bit concerned about green grass or clean cars.”

First time offenders will be given a warning.

Okmulgee County Rural Water District Number 6 has 3300 customers in southern Tulsa, northern Okmulgee, and portions of Creek and Wagoner County.

A second offense will set you back $250, a three-peat offender is looking at a $500, and a fourth offense will result in your meter being pulled.
