Officers receive a call about a domestic disturbance Tuesday afternoon near Apache and Peoria.
Police say when they arrived at the scene, a man approached them and said the 911 call was about his brother.
He told officers Gregory Campbell had slapped his 8-year-old daughter hard on her back. Police say officers found red marks on her shoulder blade.
The child's grandmother was also present and said she heard the commotion, but didn't see the slap.
Campbell was said to be intoxicated, and was mad at the child over a dead dog.
Campbell was taken into custody and faces one count of child abuse.
