Man charged with trying to rob store with an ax

Update:  We told you last weekend about a man walking into an 8th and Elgin Home Depot, asking for an ax, and then trying to rob the store with his new weapon.

Tulsa court records show Trevan Brewer was charged on Friday with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

An off-duty officer happened to be in the store during the time of the robbery and subdued Brewer.

Original:  A man had a plan when he walked into a Home Depot near 8th and Elgin Saturday night.

Police say Trevan Brewer asked an employee where the axes were located.

He went over to the aisle, picked one out, and walked over to the service desk.  Brewer then began hacking up the desk with the ax.

Police say once he was done, Brewer went behind the counter, held up his ax, and demanded money.

His plan didn't take one thing into account.

An off-duty officer happened to be working at the store.  Police say the officer subdued Brewer and took him into custody.

Brewer was taken to the Tulsa County Jail.  He faces a count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
