Man beats his wife to death after she serves him vegetarian dinner

He asked for a "hearty meal"

The defense attorney in the case, Julie Clark, told the court her client “comes from a culture where he thinks this is appropriate conduct.”

"He culturally believed he had the right to hit his wife and discipline his wife,” she continued.

That’s exactly what Noor Hussain did after his wife made him a dinner of lentils instead of the goat meat he requested.

“The conversation got louder and she disrespected defendant by cursing at defendant,” records say.

An argument began.

When she called him a name, “the defendant took a wooden stick and hit her with it on her arm and mouth.”

Prosecutors say Nazar Hussain was a “bloody mess,” by the time the beating was over.

The New York Post reports assistant District Attorney Sabeeha Madni argued, "his intentions were to kill his wife." The prosecution claimed Hussain later called his son and said, "I killed her. Hurry up and come over."

Hussain's trial continues next week in Brooklyn.
