TULSA, Okla. (KOKI) — The Tulsa Police Street Crimes Unit says Christopher Brown, 31, is now in jail after leading them on a chase Monday afternoon.

Christopher Brown, 31, was arrested at an east Tulsa motel after leading police on a chase.

Police say eventually they were finally able to corner him when he drove to the Economy Inn near I-44 and Garnett.

Police say it started in the area of Admiral and Sheridan when they tried to stop Brown for a traffic violation. Instead, he took off.

Brown reached speeds up to 90 mph on Highway 169 but when he decided to exit, Tulsa Lt. Josh Goldstein says the suspect surprisingly drove somewhat safe.

But they say Brown did not stop, he ran a couple laps around the motel before officers were finally able to get him into cuffs.

Police say once Brown was detained, they learned he was wanted in a felony theft case from February, in which he had already been arrested for but failed to show up for court.

Lt. Goldstein says they did find methampethamine and heroin in the car. In addition to the warrant and chase charges, he’s also facing drug charges.

Police say Brown did have a passenger with him who they questioned and released.

Brown was booked into the Tulsa County Jail at 3:06 p.m.
