Lawyers want stay for death row inmate

Inmate executed last week moaned, attempted to lift his head during injection

Lawyers for an Oklahoma inmate who was to be put to death the same night as a botched execution have asked the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals to grant a stay for at least six months pending a review into what went wrong last week.

An attorney for Charles Warner says her client is not contesting his conviction or death sentence.

The inmate put to death last week moaned and attempted to lift his head during the lethal injection.

He later died of a heart attack.
