At least one Oklahoma lawmaker agrees with the Governor that little is getting done in the current legislative session, but he sees her as largely responsible for what he calls a "lack of leadership."
Rep. Richard Morrissette, (D-Oklahoma City), tells KRMG "So here we are, just wallowing around, and the clock's running, and none of this stuff's getting done. So, she's as much to blame as anybody."
"The Republicans control both chambers of the legislature and the governorship. You would think with that kind of power that we would be out of session by now. This thing ought to be over, right? Because again, you have to lead and she's not leading."
"This is my opinion. The House Speaker and the Pro Tem and his colleagues over there in the House are not communicating. Therefore, the negotiator should be the Governor. Well, that's not happening."
He said leaders in the legislature aren't getting the job done either.
"Politics 101, okay? Get'em in a room, and say 'okay, guys, let's have a nice little meeting here. Everybody gets along. What do you want? what do I want? Let's start horse trading.' K, that's politics 101 -- 'get'r done.'"
That's not happening, he said.
"This is gonna drag on until the end of session. Then what we're gonna have is a bunch of panic," he added.
For example, the budget negotations are stalled.
"The House and Senate have different versions, apparently, of what's going to happen and the Governor's sitting on the sidelines, as far as I can tell, not leading."
