Ladies, your handbag has more germs than a toilet

We're not judging, this is science!

Gross, but true.

The new research claims purses are filled with nasty things saying “about a third of them have fecal bacteria on them.”

Charles Gerba is a microbiologist at the University of Arizona who has studied handbags, shopping carts and other break rooms at office buildings.

While the inside of the bag can be disgusting at times he discovered the bottom of a woman’s purse is the most germ and bacteria laden place of all, even worse than toilets. One of the key reasons is where women leave them when they visit the water closet. Gerba

His findings? We’re really dirty, nasty, creatures.

Gerba recommends disinfectant wipes on your bag if it's plastic, leather or a hard surface.

His other advice is to hang the purse on the door in the bathroom rather than putting it on the floor.
