KRMG spots incorrect ‘Interstate 75’ airport sign

No one noticed it for three months

KRMG Morning News host Dan Potter spotted a sign leaving the Tulsa airport that incorrectly identifies U.S. Highway 75 as ‘Interstate 75.’

We called Tulsa International Airport to find out how what happened.

Turns out, no one had noticed the mistake until we pointed it out.

“It’s part of our garage construction project.” Higgins told KRMG. “It’s something that we are in the process of addressing and hope to have corrected as quickly as possible.”

Airport spokeswoman Alexis Higgins told us the bright blue sign was installed in July.

Higgins told KRMG it’s shocking that no one noticed the sign, considering 6,000 – 8,000 passengers travel through the Tulsa airport every day, plus employees and visitors.

We’re told the original drawings for the sign were correct, so the mistake was made between the planning stage and when the contractor received the job.

Taxpayers, no need to fret. The airport does not receive taxpayer funds, so you did not pay for the mistake.

The airport plans to fix the sign as soon as possible.
