The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Tulsa area from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
News On 6 Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer says winter weather is headed for Tulsa.
It looks like about 5 a.m. until 7 a.m. we will start to see light sleet, freezing rain or snow starting to accumulate on some bridge overpasses, especially the ones that have not been treated.
Conditions may start to deteriorate around 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. as heavier precipitation falls.
Temperatures will be hovering around 30 in the morning and only around 34 in the afternoon.
The ground temperature is around 42 degrees and that's going to help out, but right when the sleet or snow could be falling is when the highest probability of getting slick quickly will occur.
That will gradually melt during the course of the day, but the morning hours look rather rough.
Driving should be a little bit safer when the temperature rises to 34.
The National Weather Service says most areas should see an inch or so of snow accumulation with locally heavier amounts to around three inches in parts of northeast Oklahoma, especially from Tulsa to the west.
Travel impacts should not be significant with slick spots possible mainly on bridges and overpasses.
More significant winter impacts still look to hold off until Wednesday night and early Thursday with significant ice accumulation still likely in northwest Arkansas.
It is still possible that ice accumulation could still sneak into parts of northeast Oklahoma,
