KRMG's Clark Howard says national parks make a great family vacation

He says they're relatively cheap and offer great experience for kids

For that family vacation this summer, KRMG's Clark Howard says nothing beats a national park.

Besides being inexpensive, he says the natural beauty might actually get the kids away from their smart phones and video games.

"Let 'em really experience nature, life, and beauty," Clark says.

Kodachrome Basin State Park has amazing scenery, and he says it's not nearly as crowded as Bryce and Zion.

And Clark says you should check to see if there's a STATE park next door to the national park of your choice, because the state park is often much less crowded, while still offering spectacular scenery.

A good example he says is next door to Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Park in Utah.

"You go to Kodachrome and you have it to yourself," Clark says.
