KRMG's Clark Howard judges the AT&T, DIRECTV merger

Says it won't make much difference for consumers

The AT&T and DIRECTV merger has been making headlines.

But judging from what KRMG's Consumer Warrior Clark Howard says about it, we shouldn't get very excited.

"It's GREAT for DIRECTV, it's good for AT&T, and does NOTHING for you and me," Clark says.

That's because the only players in the business of providing internet service are still just the phone company and the cable company, Clark says.

"And until we get a third competitor, we're going to be paying more than people do almost anywhere in the world to connect to the internet, and have much, much slower speeds connecting to the internet," Clark says.

But Clark says this merger is nowhere near as bad for consumers as the Comcast/Time Warner merger.
