TULSA — Last weekend, Minister Keith Jossell attended a performance of “Shawshank Redemption” at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, a performance which hit home for him since just the day before he’d spent time on Oklahoma’s death row with a man he’s known for many years, convicted murderer Julius Jones.
Jones’ case has become a cause celebre for Hollywood figures, but for Jossell it’s about a miscarriage of justice which in his opinion could cost an innocent man his life.
Tuesday, Minister Jossell sat down with KRMG’s Russell Mills for an in-depth conversation on the case, which has seen major developments in recent days.
Gov. Stitt has not spoken publicly about his decision-making process, but the case is now in his hands.
Last week, the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board voted 3-1 in favor of clemency for Jones.
Meanwhile, this week the state set an execution date of Nov. 18th for Jones, as until the governor makes the call, the DOC will proceed with carrying out the sentence.
