Inhofe stymies Coburn on Tulsa VA funding

Inhofe works to put Tulsa back on list after Coburn removed it

Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn took the funding for a new Tulsa veterans clinic off the list, but his colleague, Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe, is putting it back ON.

Inhofe says this is one time he simply has to disagree with his fellow Senator, and he's talked to key lawmakers on the Veterans Committee in the House, to put Tulsa back on the list.

"All you have to do is go out and see the conditions in the Tulsa clinic," Inhofe said.  "We need to treat our veterans better, and we will."

Coburn says he agrees that Tulsa needs a new clinic, but he says the current plan has a "cooked deal" between government agencies and real estate brokers that makes it more expensive and extravagant than what it should be.
