More than $3 million in state and federal assistance for those impacted by the Aug. 3-14 wildfire in Creek County is being handed out.
The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency tells KRMG that those figures include nearly $2.9 million in housing assistance and more than $207,000 in other assistance to eligible residents.
This approved amount includes maximum grants of $31,400 each to 74 qualified applicants since the Aug. 22 presidential disaster declaration. As of Tuesday, nearly 370 individuals and families have registered with FEMA.
To register for assistance or check on the status of a registration, residents can either go online to www.disasterassistance.gov, use web-enabled phones at m.fema.gov or the FEMA app, or call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585. FEMA phone lines are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. FEMA tells KRMG that multilingual operators are available.
