TULSA COUNTY, Okla. — Deputies from the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office have identified the remains of a Sand Springs man who was reported missing in 2012.

Jarral Ray “J.R.” Osburn was last seen in Owasso on August 28, 2012. The next morning, deputies found Osburn’s car near Cincinnati Avenue and East 63rd Street.

Casey Roebuck with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office says a man hiking in a remote area near Oak Cliff Drive came across a skull.

Roebuck says where the remains were found was about a mile from where Osburn’s car was found abandoned nearly 10 years ago. She says remains were found in a remote area, up a steep incline with bushes, a place she says no one thought to look because of it’s odd location.

She adds, the medical examiner is working hard to determine the cause of death but may take awhile since the body was in the elements for so long.

If you have any information about Osburn’s death, you are asked to call the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office at 918-596-5600. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
